Softball -- Wayne Christian blasts Community

WILSON -- Brittany Solomon and Danielle Pender combined for a no-hitter as Wayne Christian opened its season Thursday afternoon with a 20-2 victory against Community Christian in Class 1-A Carolina Christian Conference action.
Solomon struck out one and walked four in a four-inning stint to earn the victory. Pender provided one inning of relief.
Logan Dawson, Emily Reesman, Jessie Brannan and Solomon each collected three hits on the afternoon.
Wayne Christian (1-0, 1-0 CCC) entertains league foe Norlina at 4 p.m. today.
