Softball -- Southern Wayne falls to South Central

DUDLEY -- Jessie Odom struck out 10 Southern Wayne hitters to send South Central over the Lady Saints 5-1 Friday at the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex.
Karen Thornton threw a complete game in the loss, allowing just two earned runs. Dominique Williams went 3-for-3 and hit a solo home run in the sixth for Southern Wayne's lone run.
Odom helped her own cause by going 2-3 and driving in a run.
The Lady Saints (2-2, 0-2) will travel to Charles B. Aycock for a cross-county matchup on Tuesday night.
