Track -- Gator teams swept by South Lenoir

DEEP RUN -- Spring Creek's track teams proved no match for Eastern Plains 2-A Conference track power South Lenoir Thursday, with the boys falling to the Blue Devils 92-45 and the girls surrendering 79-38.
The Gator boys had four winners, paced by triple-winner McKenzie Jones, who won the 100 meters in 11.6 seconds, the 200 in 23.9 seconds and the 400 in 55.6 seconds.
Clayton Jones took the discus with a heave of 126 feet, Jose Guijarro won the shot put with a toss of 39 feet, 2 1/2 inches and Lelo Burt won the high jump after clearing five feet, eight inches,
Burt was second in the 200 (24.9) and Jordan Potter gave the Gators a 1-2 finish with a second-place showing in the discus (118.5). Donte Edwards was second in the 300 hurdles (48.5) and third in the triple jump (34-10).
Other Gators with third place finishes included Elliott Hicks in the 800 (2:34), Jones in the 300 hurdles (49.1) and Joshua Gates in the shot put (35-11).
For the girls, Christina Fenwick won three events -- the long jump (13-11), the 100 hurdles (19.5) and the 300 hurdles (58.3). Kayla Shivar won a double with wins in the 100 meters (14-8) and the Discus (61-0). Shantel Patterson won the shot put with a toss of 27 feet.
Alicia Greip was second in the 400 (1:25) and Lela Dobson was second in the 100 (14.82).
The Gators will face Greene Central on Monday.

Eastern Wayne won one event in Thursday's track meet against New Bern as the Bears topped the Warriors 115-31.
Will Collins brought home the lone victory in the 800 meter run, running a 2:13 time for the win. Collins was second in the 1600 (4:57) and the 3200 (11:05).
Other second-place winners for Eastern Wayne included Brian Sanders in the discus (98-0), Brian Foster in the pole vault (10-6), Chris Campbell in the 110 hurdles (17.42), Mike Lawrence in the 800 (5:07) and Brandon Lewis in the 400 (57.38)
Sean Villanuen was third in the discus (94-3), while Campbell was third in the high jump (5-4), Lawrence was third in the 1600 (5:07), Gene Baker was third in the 400 (1:00) and Matt Interrante was third in the 3200 (11:12). Tyler Sasser was fourth in the pole vault (9-0) and Interrante was fourth in the 1600 (5:21).
Eastern Wayne, who took part in the ECU Pirate Relays on Saturday, will host Goldsboro and Charles B. Aycock on Thursday.
