PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock rapped out 13 hits and Jenny Jackson threw another shutout in a 10-0 victory against Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference foe Southern Wayne on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials halted the game after 41Ú2 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Jackson, Brittany Edgerton, Meredith Wilkerson, Jennifer Williamson and April Vick each had two hits. Wilkerson tripled and drove in two runs. Jackson doubled, while Vick and Williamson combined for two RBI.
Kandace Burroughs, Rae Ann Edmondson, Ashley Morris and Jackie Schmidt also contributed to the win.
"I thought we hit the ball very well tonight," Aycock coach David West said. "We showed a lot more emotion and intensity than we have been showing lately.
"We ran the bases smarter."
Jackson notched eight strikeouts and yielded a hit to the Saints' Dominique Williams.
Aycock (4-0, 1-0 ECC) travels to Kinston on Friday.
Southern Wayne (2-3, 0-3) is the guest of unbeaten North Lenoir this afternoon.
