Softball -- Faith Christian stops Mount Calvary

Lauren Stocks, Elizabeth Mooring and Christie Charles accounted for four RBI as Faith Christian slid past Mount Calvary of Hookerton 13-6 in a Mid-Athletic Christian Athletic Association 2-A game Tuesday.
Stocks and Mooring each batted 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Conquerors, who remained unbeaten in three outings. Charles contributed a triple and two RBI.
Elizabeth Christopher emerged the winning pitcher with an eight-strikeout, two-hit effort. Christopher is 2-0 on the mound after a season-opening, no-hit performance against Victory Christian of Elizabeth City.
The Conquerors broke the game open against Mt. Calvary with an eight-run, fourth-inning outburst. Coach Jeff Stocks said the team collected six hits and benefited from three walks as it tallied eight runs.
Mt. Calvary's runs came via eight walks and six Faith Christian errors.
Coach Stocks said Stefanie Jones also has a pitching win to her credit after defeating Victory Christian of Elizabeth City 10-6.
Faith Christian (3-0, 3-0 MACAA) returns to action next Tuesday against Bethel Christian of Kinston.
