Soccer -- Panthers balanced over Vikings

KENLY -- Five different North Johnston players scored as the Panthers posted a 6-1 win at home over Tarboro in Classes 2-A Eastern Plains/1-A Carolina/Super-Six Conference action on Wednesday.
Martha Godwin and Christy Johnson tallied first-half scores to give North Johnston (4-7, 2-3 EPC/Carolina) a 2-0 lead at the half.
Stefanie Jones, Jenna Gudac and Christina Strickland scored in the second half for the Panthers, who also benefited from an own-goal by Tarboro, who accidentally headed in a corner kick by Godwin in the second half.
Tarboro (1-4-1, 0-4 EPC/Carolina) got its lone goal from Katie Hayes.
North Johnston, who takes on non-conference opponent Clinton tonight on the road, outshot Tarboro 17-5.
Panther goalie Allison Hinnant had three saves.
