Softball -- Hawks top Bruins in nine

WILSON -- North Lenoir's Leslie Oliver had two hits, including a triple as the Hawks escaped Wilson Beddingfield with a 4-3 win in nine innings.
North Lenoir (10-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, before the Bruins answered with two runs in the third and one in the fourth off of Hawks' pitcher Hermia Humphrey.
Humphrey (4-1) had 11 strikeouts and no walks.
Morgan Worthington had two hits and an RBI for North Lenoir, who opens Class 2-A Eastern Carolina Conference play on Friday at home against South Lenoir at 7 p.m.
