Soccer -- NL throttles SouthWest

PINETOPS -- Katie Maloney found the back of the net five times as state-ranked North Lenoir dismantled SouthWest Edgecombe 7-0 in a Classes 1-A/2-A Carolina/Super Six/Eastern Plains tilt Thursday evening.
The Hawks, ranked No. 9 in the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association 1-A/2-A poll, improved to 9-0-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference. They entertain James Kenan next Monday evening.
Jessica Farmer added a single goal. Haley Bright contributed one goal and two assists.
Febe Barraza earned her fourth shutout in goal.
