DUDLEY -- Dominique Williams doubled and drove in a run as Southern Wayne dispatched West Craven 10-0 in a Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference contest Tuesday.
Williams finished the day 2-for-3 as the Saints climbed into fifth place in the ECC standings at 3-3. Southern Wayne entertains D.H. Conley in a non-conference game at 7 p.m. today.
Karen Thornton and Lesli Darden combined for a five-hitter on the mound. Each pitcher struck out one and walked one in the game, which was halted in the sixth because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Five of the Saints' nine hits resulted in either a double, triple or home run. Thornton belted a home run and two RBI in her only official plate appearance.
Danielle Wilkins tripled in three at-bats. Katie Westfall tripled and plated a run. Leslie Barrow batted 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Darden provided two RBI.
