Soccer -- Hawks seal conference title

WARSAW -- North Lenoir cruised past James Kenan 7-1 at Bill Taylor Field on Thursday and sealed up the Carolina/Super Six/Eastern Plains Conference's top seed heading into next week's N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A/2-A playoffs.
North Lenoir (16-1-1, 11-1 C/SS/EPC) got four goals and one assist from Katie Maloney. Haley Bright contributed two goals and two assists.
Stephanie Melton, a senior, added her first-ever career goal.
The Hawks received a first-round bye in the NCHSAA playoffs and will host a second-round game later in the week. The first-round pairings are scheduled to be released Saturday by the NCHSAA office in Chapel Hill.
James Kenan concluded its season at 7-11 overall and 6-6 against conference foes.
