Tracy gets fifth save for Warthogs

WINSTON-SALEM -- Sean Tracey earned his fifth win of the season, scattering four hits in a five-inning stint as Winston-Salem defeated first-half South Division champion Kinston 10-9 in a Single A Carolina League contest Tuesday.

Tracey yielded two earned runs.

Dwayne Pollok surrendered a solo home run in the ninth, but recovered to earn his league-leading 17th save.

Kinston's Brian Slocum worked three-plus innings and allowed six runs on six hits.

The Indians led 2-0 after the top of the first on an RBI single by Nathan Panther and an RBI ground out by Rodney Choy Foo.

The Warthogs tied the game at 2-2 with two runs in the bottom of first. They added four runs in the bottom of the third, another run in the bottom of the fourth, and two in the fifth to take a commanding 9-2 lead.

Kinston erupted for six runs in the top of the sixth, including a two-run homer from Pat Osborn and a three-run homer from Ryan Garko.

Darren Blakely added a solo home run for Winston-Salem in the bottom of the eight. Osborn homered again in the top of the ninth, providing the final margin of 10-9 for the Warthogs.

Pedro Lopez had three hits to pace Winston-Salem. Andy Gonzalez, Josh Fields, and Darren Blakely each two hits for Winston-Salem. Fields also had two RBIs.

Eider Torres, Nathan Panther, and Pat Osborn each had two hits for Kinston. Garko and Osborn finished with three RBI for the Indians.

The Warthogs won the series 2-1.

Kinston finished a 15-game roadswing and returns home for a three-game series against Wilmington, which begins today. Game time is 7 p.m. at historic Grainger Stadium.
