Greene Central's Meredith Rouse defeated Rosewood's Kayce Brantham 6-1, 6-1 in number one singles play as the Rams went on to a 9-0 sweep of the Eagles at Rosewood on Wednesday in Classes 2-A/1-A Eastern Plains/Carolina Conference play.
Greene Central dropped only 11 games to the Eagles (4-3, 3-3 EPC/Carolina) in a match delayed until 5 p.m. due to wet court conditions.
"We didn't get started until 5 p.m., and I was concerned about that causing us to be sluggish," Greene Central coach Donald Clark said. "But, we really played some fine tennis today, losing only 11 games to one of the top teams in our conference."
Rouse, Sarah Moore, Summer Chase, Holly Mace, Ashley Harrell and Christi Murphy won at singles for the Rams (7-1, 5-0 EPC/Carolina), who also swept the doubles matches.
The Rams host North Pitt today, while the Eagles host Farmville Central.
