Prep golf -- Forbis, CBA prevail in ECC opener

PIKEVILLE -- Kelly Forbis captured medalist honors with an 18-hole round of 82 as Charles B. Aycock emerged victorious in the season-opening, Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference match Tuesday at Lane Tree.
The Golden Falcons edged county rival Eastern Wayne 183-197 in the team totals. West Carteret finished third with 213, followed by Southern Wayne (230) and West Craven (286).
Morgan Lane complemented Forbis' effort with a 101.
Brittany Taylor led the Warriors with an 87, while teammate Ashley Smith shot 110. Jordan Hill paced the Saints with a 106. Lynn Grantham provided a 124.
C.B. Aycock (6-0, 4-0 ECC) entertains Wilson Fike and J.H. Rose on Thursday.
