Prep tennis -- Gators topple Farmville

Spring Creek improved its record to 6-1 in the Classes 2-A/1-A Eastern Plains/Carolina Conference with a 7-0 shutout over Farmville Central on Wednesday.
The Gators' Stacy Smith, Sarah Warren, Melanie Harlowe, Cynthia Breault, Sarah Bragg and Kelly Murphy emerged with straight-set singles wins. The doubles combo of Harlowe and Breault claimed a win in the only doubles match of the afternoon.
Spring Creek (7-1 overall) hosts Rosewood today at Walnut Creek.
