Pride, Billups lead Gators to first win of season

HOBBTON -- Tameka Pride and Brittany Billups each tallied 15 points as Spring Creek dumped Hobbton 44-28 and gave first-year coach Amanda Ramfjord her first-ever victory in the high school ranks.

"I was real proud of my girls tonight," said Ramfjord. "They stepped up and played as a team. Anna Potter played awesome defense for us tonight with many steals."

Potter finished with five points, while Troia Morgan added seven.

Rasheka Williams led Hobbton with 11 points.

The Gators (1-7) travel to South Lenoir on Monday.

Aycock claims third

straight ECC victory

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Lela Reid led all scorers with 12 points as the Golden Falcons won their third straight -- defeating West Carteret 45-28 at home on Friday.

The win improves Aycock (4-6 overall) to 3-2 in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference.

Erin Medford added seven points and nine rebounds for the Falcons, while Quaneisha Milner and Emily Stewart had seven points each.

Ausha Graham paced West Carteret with nine points.

Aycock returns to action at South Central on Jan. 4.

Warriors defeat

Eastern Wayne's Brianna Williams and Noelle Kelly scored 13 points each in the Warriors 45-40 win at home over Goldsboro on Friday.

The win improves Eastern Wayne to 3-4 heading into a Jan. 4 match-up at Southern Wayne.
