NCCSIA honors MOC's Nordan

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College infielder Stephen Nordan was named to the 2005 NCCSIA All-State Baseball Team (College Division), as selected by members of the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association.
Nordan, a sophomore from Benson (Clayton High School), earned All-CVAC first Team honors and was named to the ABCA All-South Atlantic Region second team. Nordan, who won CVAC player of the week honors in April, ranked eighth in the CVAC with a .379 batting average. He hit six home runs and 20 doubles, and led the Trojans with 49 runs batted in.
Nordan had 17 multi-hit games, including eight 3-hit games and two 4-hit games. He went 4-for-4 with a career-high five runs batted in against Belmont Abbey.
Nordan played four different positions in 2005, splitting time between second base, third base, catcher and designated hitter. Nordan hit .433 (13-for-30) with a home run and 11 runs batted in during the Trojans' late-season seven-game winning streak.
Mount Olive posted a record of 26-27 in 2005 and finished fifth in the CVAC standings.
