LAGRANGE -- Tyler Wicks and Walker Gourley provided key, late-inning RBI hits as Wayne County Post 11 rallied past Lenoir County 6-5 in an American Junior Legion contest at North Lenoir High School on Tuesday evening.

Post 11 seized the lead in the fifth.

Garrett Barfield ripped a solo home run. With two outs, Gourley doubled and took third on a great "dirt-ball read," said head coach Trae McKee. Wicks plated Gourley with a single.

Willie Koernig ignited the seventh-inning rally with a lead-off single, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Gourley grounded out to score Koernig.

Wayne County led 6-4.

Lenoir County pulled within 6-5 on three consecutive singles in its half of the seventh. However, Post 11 hurler Evan Cavanaugh settled down and earned the complete-game win. He scattered seven hits and struck out five.

"Evan pitched good and worked out of a couple of jams," McKee said. "Every time we've put him out there this summer, he's given us a chance to win."

Koernig provided three hits, including a home run. Gourley and Wicks each batted 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nolan Lancaster doubled in three at-bats.
