All-Stars bow out

WINTERVILLE -- The Wayne County All-Stars beat Wilson County 8-1 in the losers' bracket of the 2005 Babe Ruth 14U Southeast Regional before falling to Pitt County to bow out of the tournament.
Against Wilson, Jordan Hill had two doubles and a single for Wayne, which pounded out 14 hits. On the mound, Autumn Pittman struck out five and walked one while giving up just three hits and an earned run in a complete-game effort.
Also for the All-Stars, Morgan Davis had three singles; Lindsey Pearsall had a double and a single; Amber Baker and Leigh Smith each had a double; Pittman had two singles; and Ashley Shingleton and Jordan Coor had a hit each.
Wayne County opened the tournament on Thursday with a 9-8 loss to Oviedo (Fla.).
