MOUNT OLIVE -- Keona Corley broke her own school record with 12 assists and Teneal Boone notched her third consecutive double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds as Mount Olive defeated Coker 65-53 in a Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's basketball game Monday evening at Kornegay Arena.
The Trojans held Coker scoreless over the final five minutes of the game to pick up their second win in a row.
Mount Olive (12-11 overall, 7-9 CVAC) took an early lead after Tomeka Prichard hit a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired on the Trojans' first possession to extend her streak to 11 consecutive games with a three. But Ashley White's three-point play sparked a run of nine unanswered points for Coker (5-18, 4-13) and the Cobras took their biggest lead of the first half at 13-7 with 14:28 remaining.
Mount Olive scored the next six points to tie the game and Anita Rogers hit 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to give the Trojans a 22-18 lead with 7:35 left before halftime.
Coker got as close as two points, but Prichard's three-pointer with 3:54 remaining sparked an 11-2 run to end the half and Mount Olive went into the locker room with a 37-26 lead at intermission.
Boone, Prichard and Rogers combined for 25 of the Trojans' 37 first-half points.
Corley, who reached double figures in assists for the fourth time this season, dished out the record breaker on Boone's layup with 4:54 remaining. Neither team was able to score until Boone found Sierra Medeiros under the basket for a lay-in with 33 seconds remaining.
Pirchard finished with 13 points for Mount Olive, while Rogers added 10 points. Boone, who has 12 double-doubles this season, duplicated her point and rebound totals from Saturday's game against Queens. Boone was 9-for-13 from the field Monday.
Kolbeck led Coker with 18 points, while Temeca Spain added 12 points.
Mount Olive returns to action Thursday as the Trojans travel to Belmont to take on Belmont Abbey in a CVAC matchup. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. Coker plays host to Pfeiffer Saturday at 2 p.m. in CVAC action.
