LAURINBURG -- Lindsey Snyder tied for second and Kate Somek finished fifth out of 26 golfers to lead Mount Olive to a second-place finish at the rain-shortened St. Andrews Women's Golf Spring Invitational. Rain washed out all of Tuesday's second round.
Snyder, an Eastern Wayne grad, shot a 78 (38-40), while Somek carded an 82 (40-42). Both players earned All-Tournament honors.
Mount Olive finished with a team total of 345 to finish four shots behind tournament champion Wingate in the five-team tournament.
Kristen Freeman tied for 12th with a 92 (43-49), while Deborah Woodrum placed 15th with a 93 (48-45). Brianna Whaley finished 16th with a 96 (47-49).
At last year's St. Andrews Spring Invitational, the team took home first place to capture the first-ever title in Mount Olive women's golf history.
