DUDLEY -- Wayne County's Junior Legion team improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in division play with a 12-0 win over Wilson County at home on Saturday.
Garrett Barfield had three hits for Wayne County, while Tyler Edwards, Chad Gurley and Jeff Hill added two hits each.
Sterling Grice picked up the win for Post 11, which hosts West Raleigh on Wednesday.
On Monday, Wayne County led D.H. Conley 2-1 in the third inning before rain washed out the rest of the game. The game will resume Thursday at 7 p.m. in Greenville.
Snow Hill Juniors
fall on road
ROCKY MOUNT -- Stephen McDonald drove in two runs for Snow Hill in Post 94's 8-4 loss at Rocky Mount on Monday.
Chris Nethercutt added two hits for Snow Hill (1-4) and was saddled with the loss on the mound.
Post 94 travels to D.H. Conley on Wednesday.
Wayne County and Snow Hill both had their Area I East Senior American Legion games rained out on Monday.
Post 11 did not get underway against New Bern, and no make up date has been scheduled. Snow Hill and Ahoskie will resume play in the third inning on Friday.
Wayne County (4-4, 2-3 Area I East) is slated to host Garner in its final non-division game of the season tonight at 7 p.m. Post 11 begins a run of seven games over the next eight nights with tonight's contest.
Post 94 (4-4, 2-4) entertains Pitt County Post 39 on Wednesday.
Pete Reaves won play of the day, while Novella Zambelli claimed low gross, Betty Holloway won low net and Frankie Farfour took low putts. In the Eastern Ladies League held at Wilson Country Club, winners were as follows: Jewel Ivey (championship flight, first low gross), Kathy Woodard (championship flight, second low gross); Novella Zambelli (first flight, first low gross), Mary Ann Sutton (first flight, second low gross); Linda Cannon (third flight, low putts); Evelyn Rose (fourth flight, second low net), Nancy Satterfield (fifth flight, first low net).
In eastern league play, Linda Watson won first low net in the championship flight, while Libby Newsome won low putts in the second flight. In Lane Tree tournament play, Donna Adams won game fo the week as Nan Jarrell took low putts.
