Forbis, Davis emerge Wayne County Junior Amateur champions

DUDLEY -- Kelli Forbis and Matthew Davis emerged victorious in the Wayne County Junior Amateur golf tournament contested Tuesday at Southern Wayne Country Club.
Forbis, a rising senior at Charles B. Aycock, carded an 18-hole round of 79 to claim the girls' 13-18 division crown. Brooke Newell ended up second.
Davis edged defending boys' 13-18 champion Ryan Campbell by one shot. Davis fired a 1-over par 72, while Campbell finished one stroke back.
Kyle Best picked up the boys' 10-11 title, while Jackson Shearin took the boy's 12-13 crown. Austin Forrest, who helped C.B. Aycock seize the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference championship, copped top honors in the boys' 14-15 division.
