Mitchell, Lut lead MOC

WILSON -- Sam Mitchell tallied 26 kills and 15 digs as Mount Olive defeated Barton 29-31, 30-24, 30-24, 30-25 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference volleyball Wednesday at Wilson. Anna-Marie Luft added 15 kills, five aces and three blocks as the Trojans rallied from a 22-17 deficit in game four.
The win improves Mount Olive to 8-16 overall and 7-9 in the CVAC.
Joanie Werling recorded 32 assists, while Mariangelix Cordero added 21 assists for the Trojans. Defensively, Nikki Murphy tallied 17 digs and Mallory Peavler finished with 12 digs. Racey Bartley notched 10 kills.
Mount Olive returns to action Friday as the Trojans travel to Gaffney, S.C., to take on Limestone in a CVAC contest. Match time is 6:30 p.m.
