WILSON -- Every hitter in the Wayne Country Day line-up recorded a hit as the Chargers pounded Greenfield 16-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Fleming Stadium.

The onslaught was highlighted by a nine-run second inning, which included 11 of the Chargers' 21 hits.

Travis Davis continued his hitting tear to open the season by going 4-for-5 with a double and five RBIs to lead WCDS. Cory Robert and Sam Steed both contributed three hits and a RBI while Cameron Ford, Ryan Ford, Trent Langston, Jack Scott and Kyle Pender all tallied two hits apiece.

On the mound, Davis allowed only one hit in five innings to pick up the win while fanning six.

"We were more focused and ready to play," said WCDS coach Michael Taylor. "We hit the ball extremely well last night."

Wayne Country Day improves to 5-1 (1-0) and will next host Spring Creek on Friday.

Ginn lifts North

Lenoir to win

VANCEBORO -- A two-run homer by Taylor Ginn ignited a three-run first inning, propelling North Lenoir to a 4-2 win over West Craven on Wednesday night.

Brice Grady, Andrew Manning and Sthil Sowers all contributed a hit for Hawks.

Brandon Sutton picked up the victory by allowing only one earned run on seven hits while striking out seven in his seven innings for work.

North Lenoir, ranked No. 3 in the ImpactBaseball.com 2-A poll, improves to 7-1 on the year and will next take on No. 7 (ImpactBaseball.com 3-A) Charles B. Aycock in Pikeville today.

Farmville gets

revenge vs. Rosewood

FARMVILLE -- A two-out, three-run homer by Craven Taylor in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Farmville Central to a 4-1 win over Rosewood on Wednesday evening.

The victory by Farmville Central avenges its earlier loss this season to the Eagles.

Justin Bagley picked up the win for Jaguars by striking out 11 in seven innings.

Taylor Allen went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Rosewood while on the mound freshman Matt Neal pitched five strong innings allowing one run on seven hits, walked none and struck out three.

Rosewood drops to 5-2 and will next host Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday.

Wilson-Fike bests


Wilson-Fike kept Goldsboro winless by beating the Cougars 27-1.

Donald Lewis had two hits for Goldsboro. Jamar Branch took the loss on the mound.

Goldsboro falls to 0-8 and will next travel to Kinston on March 22.

Greene Central slips

past South Central

WINTERVILLE -- Chris Leggett had a home run and four RBIs to lead Greene Central past Southern Central 7-5 on Wednesday evening.

Alex Brann went 2-for-4 with a double for the Rams while Michael Speedy went 2-for-3 and Trey Beamon added a hit and RBI.

Josh Elmore picked up the win for Greene Central.

The Rams next travel to Charles B. Aycock on March 28.

Spring Creek

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Elizabeth Webb tossed five scoreless innings to help Greene Central get by Spring Creek 12-0 on Wednesday evening.

Stacey Wade, Chelsey Tyndal, Ashley Oaks and Sarah Robero all went 2-for-3 for the Rams.

Casey Coor suffered the loss for the Gators by allowing 12 runs on 11 hits in five innings while fanning two.

Greene Central improves to 4-4 while Spring Creek remains winless at 0-7.

Rosewood falls

at Farmville Central

FARMVILLE -- Farmville Central defeated Rosewood 4-1 on Wednesday evening.

Jessica Price and Aubrey Reinhard had two hits apiece for the Eagles.

Rosewood drops to 3-6 and next hosts Ayden-Grifton on March 27.


WCDS shuts out

Flora MacDonald

Mack Thompson contributed a hat trick to lead Wayne Country Day to a 4-0 blanking of Flora MacDonald Academy on Wednesday afternoon.

Virginia Bennett tallied the other goal for the Chargers and added two assists. Georgia Crow also recorded an assist.

WCDS improves to 7-1 (3-0) and will take the field again on Friday when they host county rival Wayne Christian.

Wilson Hunt outscores

Eastern Wayne

WILSON -- Alex Calvert's hat trick propelled Wilson Hunt to a 5-3 victory in Wednesday's Eastern Carolina Conference match-up.

Samantha Frazer had two shots find the back of the net while Kasie Edwards recorded the other goal for the Warriors on an assist from Frazer.

Eastern Wayne falls to 3-6 (1-1) and next travels to Wilson Beddingfield on March 27.


Wayne Christian loses

to Greenfield

Woody Sasser picked up the lone win for Wayne Christian against Greenfield as he won in three sets against J. Yaktorvic 6-0, 1-6 (10-7).

Wayne Christian next faces county rival Wayne Country Day on Friday.

Greene Central pushed across 13 runs in a 13-12 win over South Central on Wednesday afternoon.

William Vine went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and David Stallings went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI to lead the Rams.

Josh Taylor picked up the win on the mound for Greene Central.

Greene Central improves to 4-3 and next plays Rose High School on Friday.
