C.B. Aycock's Vail wins regional

Charles B. Aycock's Blake Vail emerged the N.C. High School Athletic Association eastern regional singles champion Saturday afternoon on the Barton College Tennis Complex courts.
Vail, a freshman, turned back Griffin Benton 6-1, 6-0 in the finals.
Teammate Addison Westbrook ended up third with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over John Lucas of Northern Nash. Vail and Westbrook advance to next weekend's NCHSAA championships.
Eastern Wayne's tandem of Jared Stone-Drew Jackson also qualified for the state finals. Their scores were not available at press time.
