Stephen Batts smashed a game-clinching, three-run homer as East Carolina rallied past Quinnipiac 12-9 inside Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium on Thursday evening.
Batts' round-tripper gave the Pirates their ninth straight win and 10th overall in 14 outings this season.
East Carolina trailed 9-7 entering the eighth. Jamie Ray pounded out a ground-rule double and scored on two Quinnipiac errors. Trent Whitehead supplied a game-tying single and Batts later followed with his bases-clearing shot.
Freshman Seth Simmons earned the pitching win in relief.
The Pirates begin a three-game weekend series today against Rhode Island. First pitch is 7 p.m.
