Ryan Tucker and the Carolina bullpen combined for a four-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Jacksonville at the Baseball Grounds.
Tucker (1-1) tossed six scoreless innings and escaped a third-inning jam when the Suns put two runners aboard with no outs. He stranded five Jacksonville runners during his start.
Todd Doolittle appeared in the ninth and induced a game-ending pop-up for his Southern League-leading fifth save of the season.
The Mudcats (9-3 overall) got the offense they needed with three consecutive singles in the sixth inning. Gaby Sanchez supplied an RBI hit.
