Conference Carolinas tennis: MOC men fourth, women fifth

SUMTER, S.C. -- Lees-McRae collected three singles points and defeated Mount Olive 5-1 in the third-place match in the 2008 Conference Carolinas men's tennis championships.
The Trojans' lone victory occurred at No. 3 doubles.
Mount Olive opened tournament play with a 5-0 shutout of archrival Barton College on Friday.
Limestone (S.C.)University stopped the Trojans 5-2 in their semifinal-round match early Saturday morning.
Women
Seventh-seeded Barton College turned back Mount Olive 5-4 in the fifth-place match in the women's portion of the conference tournament.
The Trojans' No. 1 tandem of Kristen Jones-Sofia Medeiros and No. 2 duo of Carol Aro-Monica Barone combined to lose just one game en route to two doubles points.
Medeiros and Jones prevailed in singles.
Mount Olive opened tournament play with a 5-4 loss to in-state rival Pfeiffer University on Friday. Jones-Medeiros and Aro-Barone each triumphed in doubles.
Ado and Medeiros each claimed a singles win.
In consolation-round play, Mount Olive slipped past Coker (S.C.) 5-3 on Saturday. Aro-Barone and the third-seeded duo of Jennifer Myers-Camila Kurebayashi accounted for MOC's two doubles points.
Ado, Medeiros and Emily Escolas each won in singles play.
