Mudcats ease past Smokies

Gaby Sanchez tallied the game-winning run on a throwing error as Carolina edged Tennessee 4-3 at Five County Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Tied at 3-3 in the ninth, the Mudcats drew two walks and capitalized on the Smokies' defensive blunder when the infield misplayed Manuel Mayorson's sacrifice bunt attempt. Sanchez scored and Carolina clinched the Southern League series.
The Mudcats improved to 14-5 overall.
