Wayne County North claims extra-inning road victory
KINSTON -- Jose Ponce's game-winning RBI hit in the eighth inning lifted Wayne County North to 5-4 win over Junior Legion foe Kinston on the Parrott Academy diamond Tuesday evening.
Michael Fields recored the win on the mound. Ponce, Colton Fulghum and Jeff Carmel each collected two hits.
Wayne County North split a pair of games over the weekend, defeating West Craven on Saturday night before falling to Snow Hill on Sunday.
Wayne County North (9-8 overall) visits Area I/II member West Craven today.

SNOW HILL -- Wes Sowers hit a two-run homer and pitched 41/3 solid innings to lift Snow Hill's Junior Legion squad past D.H. Conley 3-2 on Tuesday evening.
Zach Chase went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Snow Hill (9-6 overall, 7-5 Central) picked up an 11-0 victory over visiting Pitt County Post 160 in five innings on Monday. Sowers collected a pair of hits and Ryder McLawhorn earned the win on the mound.
Snow Hill Post 94 plays host to North Lenoir on Thursday.

Hole in one
Dot Pate recorded her first-ever ace on the par-3, No. 4 hole at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course on Monday.
Playing partners John Pate, and Frank and Ann Ripsom witnessed the feat.
Walnut Creek LGA
Kathy Woodard and Mary Morris shared play-of-the-day honors during weekly play on the Walnut Creek Country Club links.
Jewel Ivey and Faye Franklin won low gross and low net, respectively. Linda Cannon captured low putts.
In an Eastern League Ladies meet at New Bern Country Club, Ivey claimed second net in the Championship Flight. Mary Ann Sutton had low putts in First Flight, while Cannon had low putts in Third Flight.
Nancy Satterfield seized second gross in Fourth Flight.
