Charles B. Aycock junior Blake Vail claimed the opening set, but dropped a first-round decision to Jason Hull of Western Guilford. Hull rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.

Vail dropped to 0-3 in the state tournament.

On the doubles' side, the Golden Falcons' tandem of Addison Westbrook-Ben Nichols fell to Northern Guilford's Alex Southard-Logan Williams 6-2, 6-1.

Westbrook-Nichols finished second in the east this spring.

In 2-A action, Greene Central's Eric Simmons endured a first-round, 6-3, 6-2 loss to First Flight's Taylor Sulllivan.

The Rams' doubles of Colby Chase-Andrew Harrison suffered a 6-1, 6-1 setback against First Flight's Tommy Taylor-James Chase.

Turner defeated Vail in the east regional semifinals after suffering a loss to him in the ECC tournament championship match.
