Lexi's Angels event at GMGC
* Golfers raised more than $3,500 in the inaugural Lexi's Angels Cystic Fibrosis Foundation tournament contested on the Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course links.
The foursome of John Gurley, Mike Stanley, Glenn Clark and Rob Selin emerged the top team with a 57. The quartet of Reed Lewis, David Raper, Jason Vernon and Brian Caton placed second with a 59.
The trio of Tom Tipton, Jody Nassef and James Griffin took third with a 61.
All of the winners returned their prize money to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Lexi hit the first the ball of the tournament off the No. 10 tee.
* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 6, Southern Wayne 4 -- Gregory Johnson recorded six strikeouts in a four-inning stint, and Ryan Grant earned the save with three innings of five-strikeout relief. Garrett Joyner batted 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI, and swiped two bases. Grant, Johnson (RBI), Jordan Lee (RBI), Ben Rouse, Hunter Jones and Rider Gardner each supplied one hit in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference game. The Golden Falcons (13-5 overall) finished 8-4 against ECC opposition this season.
