MOUNT OLIVE -- Sarah Robertson recorded her career-high 23rd kill on match point as Mount Olive rallied for a 22-25, 25-17, 26-28, 25-23, 15-11 over Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Saturday at Kornegay Arena. Robertson also had three kills during a set-ending 7-0 run in the fourth set after the Trojans were just two points away from losing the match. She had eight kills in the fifth set and scored 11 of the Trojans' final 22 points.
Mount Olive (7-8 overall, 3-4 Conference Carolinas) trailed 23-18 in the fourth set after Lees-McRae used a 12-3 run to rally from a four-point deficit. Taylor Clendenin capped the run with a kill and an ace on consecutive points to put the Bobcats within two points of a four-set win.
Carly White finished with 15 kills and only two errors in 25 attempts for a .520 hitting percentage. Nicole Karas tallied 54 assists and 13 digs, while Sparks added 15 digs.
TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Mount Olive senior Janaya Finney scored twice in three minutes, lifting the Trojans to a 2-1 come-from-behind Conference Carolinas women's soccer victory over North Greenville Saturday afternoon.
With Mount Olive (2-7-1 overall, 2-4-0 CC) trailing 1-0, Finney pulled her team even with an unassisted goal in the 75th minute. It did not take long for Finney to find the net again. After teammate Daisy Thomas just missed the goal, Finney took a pass from Sydney Nelson and beat the Crusader goalkeeper for the game-winner.
The Trojans return to action Tuesday night when Chowan comes to Amon Field for a 7 p.m. start. The men's contest will begin at 4 p.m.
