MOUNT OLIVE -- Braden Reitano slugged his third home run of the season and plated six runs, and No. 1-ranked Mount Olive College hammered out a 19-2 victory over in-state foe Shaw University on Thursday afternoon.

Six Trojan pitchers combined for a five-hitter against the Bears at Scarborough Field. MOC head coach Carl Lancaster is now two shy of 900 career wins.

The Trojans (7-0 overall) scored in each of the first eight innings and nine different players recorded at least one hit. Reitano, who finished the day 4-for-6, swatted a three-run homer in the fifth inning. He added an RBI double in the seventh and cranked out a two-RBI single in the seventh.

Matt Patrone, Geno Escalante (two RBI) and Tyler Farmer (two RBI) provided three hits apiece. Mike Mercurio and Zak Orrison each had two hits.

MOC freshman Garrett Blackburn logged five strikeouts and permitted one hit in three innings. Taylor Carr, Talton Cherry, Collin DuBose, Josh Frederick and Licio Tamburlini all saw time on the hill.

Frederick tossed two innings of no-hit, three-strikeout relief to earn his first decision of the season.

The Trojans improved to 51-0 all-time against Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools.

MOC returns home Saturday for a doubleheader against No. 24-ranked Lemoyne College, which swept last season's two-game series. First pitch is noon.
