MOUNT OLIVE -- Nationally-ranked University of Mount Olive earned a doubleheader sweep of in-state foe Lenoir-Rhyne, 7-2 and 6-1, at Scarborough Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Derek Justice threw a complete-game, four-hitter in the opener. The senior yielded two earned runs and logged four strikeouts.

Tied at 2-2 through 3 1/2 innings, the Trojans broke the game open in the fourth. Rob Shipman was hit by a pitch and advanced to third base on Chase Edwards' two-out hit.

Cody Britt walked to load the bases and Zak Orrison delivered a two-RBI single to right field. Moments later, Orrison and Britt each scored on an errant throw to give UMO a 5-2 advantage.

UMO scored twice in the sixth and its defense turned a game-ending, 6-4-3 double play in the seventh.

A trio of Trojan hurlers -- Brody McDonald, Talton Cherry and Taylor Carr -- combined for a five-hitter in the nightcap. McDonald (2-1) logged the win with four innings of four-hit, three-strikeout work.

Cherry provided two innings of scoreless relief, while Carr threw the seventh.

The Trojans posted four first-inning runs and cruised to its eighth win of the season.

UMO plays host to California (Pa.) University this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday.
