Gene Price —
Former Editor emeritus

For many years, Gene Price was the self-styled oldest rat in the News-Argus barn, having been there over 50 years. He retired as editor in 1991 and was given the title editor emeritus a few years later. He wrote a personal column on Mondays and a Sunday outdoor column in addition to contributing editorials. He has won many writing awards from the North Carolina Press Association.

Mr. Price retired for the second time in September of 2006.
