April Philita Lucille Weathersbe of Goldsboro became the bride of Willie Varnell Brewington Aug. 8 at 2 p.m.
Bishop Carlton Jackson Sr. and Pastor Jimmie A. Mumford officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Gospel Light Temple Church.
Parents of the bride are Wilbert Lee and Phyllis Elaine Rawlings of Princeton. She is the granddaughter of the late Bishop Allen Ruth and the late Overseer Lucille Ruth and Equillar Rawlings.
Parents of the groom are the late Walter Battle Sr. and Dorothy Mae Battle of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Isabell Mae Dowe and Robert Dowe.
Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore a satin floor-length gown accented with pearls and sequins around the neckline and hemline with a detachable cathedral train accented with lace, pearls and sequins.
For her headpiece, she chose a rhinestone tiara with a veil. She carried white roses and irises.
Teresinia Canady and Maria Bell were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Katisha Santos, Felicia Spruill, Alaina Brown and Samira Rawlings.
William Moore was best man. Ushers were Douglas Brewington, Carlos Santos and Elder Ronald Canady.
Tiara Washington, Tykeela Davis, Brionna Canady and Brionna Wilson were flower girls. Kenneth Brewington was ring bearer.
Gwendolyn Spruill directed the ceremony.
Special helpers were Gwendolyn Spruill, First Lady Aileen Jackson, Esther Drake and Ernestine Hinton.
A program of wedding music was provided by Tyrone Washington and the bride, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Virginia Beach, Va., the couple is residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 1994 graduate of Goldsboro High School. She attends Wayne Community College’s nursing program.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1984. He is director of greeters and stewards at Bible Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He is employed as a tractor trailer operator with Owner Operator.
A bridal shower was held at the home of the bride’s mother.
