RALEIGH — Lori Nichole Edwards and Matthew Aaron Thompson of Raleigh were wed Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.
Sam Caruthers officiated at the ceremony at Jones Chapel of Meredith College.
The bride is the daughter of Billie Duke Edwards of Raleigh and H.M. Edwards of Louisburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. an Mrs. William B. Duke, Lois Edwards and the late Billie M. Edwards of Louisburg.
Parents of the groom are retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. David H. Thompson of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burns of Fayetteville and the late Mr. and Mrs. David H. Thompson of Florida.
Mary Ellen Yarborough of Winston-Salem and Taryn Slozak of Raleigh were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Strickland of Kings Mountain, Jamie Neal of Boone, Junko Rasmussem of Goldsboro, Kristen Sandusky of Raleigh and Michelle Perry of Louisburg.
David H. Thompson III was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Stephen Lewis and David Byrd of Raleigh, William Weaver of Benson, William Fields of Washington D.C., John Burns of Fayetteville and Christopher Tarbutton of Charlotte.
Campbell Douglas of Raleigh was flower girl.
Jennifer Perry of Louisburg directed the wedding. Presiding at the guest register was Judy Chesson of Louisburg. Alexandria Baker of Goldsboro distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Janet Cherry of Cary, organist; Rene Todd of Raleigh, trumpeter; and Tom Shaw of Goldsboro, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to the Caribbean Islands, the couple is residing in Raleigh.
The bride is a graduate of Meredith College. She is employed by Johnston County Public School System.
The groom graduated from North Carolina State University. He is employed by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.
Following the ceremony, a dinner dance reception was held at Meredith College Amphitheater.
On Nov. 6, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Cafe Luna of Raleigh.
