Mrs. Riley

Elizabeth Nickens Willoughby and Michael Dennis Riley Jr. were married Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.

The Rev. Arthur Ross III officiated at the ceremony at White Memorial Presbyterian Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Colon Willoughby Jr. of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Charles Graham Nickens and the late Rev. Nickens of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Colon Willoughby of Tabor City.

The groom is the son of Mary Anne Borough Riley of Charlotte and Michael Dennis Riley of Rochester, N.Y. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Randal Burns Borough of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Connor Dennis Riley of Rochester.

Mary Graham Willoughby of Chapel Hill, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelly Ann Coleman of Princeton, N.J., Callaway Collins McKay and Mary Chandler Woodall of Raleigh, Sarah Cross Noah of Richmond, Va., Jeanette Grey Parker of Pinehurst, Catherine Marie Reuhl of New York, N.Y., Sarah Copeland Riley of Chapel Hill and Kathryn Laughlin Zaytoun of St. John, Virgin Islands.

John Rion Bourgeois of Charlotte was best man. Groomsmen were Eugene Scott Bowers IV of Tuscaloosa, Ala., William Carpenter Donovan and Owen Scott Zingraff of Washington D.C., Wilder Henry Harvard and Wallace Worsham Simpson III of New York, Phillip White McLamb of Charlotte, Shepherd Bates Reynolds of Raleigh and Kenneth Durham Weeks III of Nashville, Tenn. Ushers were Steven Michael Sartorio of Aiken, S.C., and David Yorke Sartorio of Davidson.

Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Anne Grove Crutchfield of Portland, Ore., Sarah McMillan Grove of Charleston, S.C., and Kath-erine Hunter Gruchawka and Caroline Willoughby Gru-chawka of Ridgewood, N.J., cousins of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by David Coleman and Van Zimmerman.

After a wedding trip to Barbados, the couple will reside in Charlotte.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with degrees in journalism and Spanish. She attends the University of North Carolina Law School. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was presented at the 2000 North Carolina Debutante Ball.

The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in political science. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He is employed as a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual of Charlotte.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Cardinal Club.

The groom’s mother held a rehearsal dinner Oct. 14 at Carolina Country Club.
