PIKEVILLE — Karen Elizabeth Vause and Frank Ewing Beaty IV exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bryan Huffman and the Rev. William Creech officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John Irvin Vause Jr. and Judy Greer Vause of Pikeville and the granddaughter of John Irvin and Rebecca Jarman Vause of Kinston and the late Irving Henry and Dora White Greer of Greenville.

She is a 1997 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She is employed as a teacher with Wayne County Public Schools.

The groom is the son of Frank Ewing Beaty III and Elizabeth Christian Beaty of Wilmington and the grandson of Alvina Waeger Beaty and the late Frank Ewing Beaty Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Victor Christian of Chattanooga, Tenn., and the late Jane Selfe Christian of Bristol, Va.

He is a 2002 graduate of Hoggard High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is employed as a teacher with Bertie County Public Schools.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white A-line short-sleeved gown with an empire waist, a sweetheart neckline and a chapel train embellished with crystal beading, Schiffli lace and sequins.

Her headpiece was a two-tiered elbow-length veil with a satin corded edge attached to a silver twisted wire comb accented with pearls and crystals.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of pink and green dendrobium orchids, pink tulips, white freesia, pink lisanthius and blue delphinium.

Jessica Kleboe was maid of honor.

Margaretta Beaty was the bridesmaid.

Clifton Higgins was best man.

Groomsmen were Jessie Beddingfield and Richard Tyndall.

Janet Davis directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sarah Chrsitian. Paula Curl distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Randy Prosser, pianist, and Margaretta Beaty and Sarah Christian, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a luncheon reception in the church fellowship hall.

After a wedding trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks, the couple reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a a miscellaneous shower July 15 at the church fellowship hall hosted by friends of the couple and a bridal shower June 6 hosted by teachers and staff at Carver Elementary School.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship hall.
