Corrie Ann Haswell and John Turner Walston III exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Madison N. Hankal officiating.
The bride is the daughter of William Michael and Carolyn Kenan Haswell of Raleigh and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Yancey Haswell of Raleigh and Arthur Carroll Kenan and the late Mary Wilson Kenan of Wallace.
She graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with bachelors degrees in French and psychology and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and psychology. She is employed as a health specialist at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Durham.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Turner Walston Jr. of Goldsboro and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Turner Walston of Farmville and Mr. and Mrs. Haven Herman Bowman of Taylorsville.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He attends East Carolina University for a degree in sports management and administration and is completing an internship with the University of North Carolina Sports Information.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.
She wore a strapless A-line gown with lace over satin and a corset back. The bodice was accented with an illusion lace insert panel highlighted with scalloped lace. A satin sash accented the empire waistline and wrapped to the corset back finishing the gown with cascading streamers.
Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil accented with ivory beads.
The bride carried a bouquet of white roses, mini calla lilies and stock.
Kirsten Leigh Haswell was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Abbie Elizabeth Bowman and Chrystie Franklin Kesler of Raleigh, Rebecca Rose Barrett of Charlotte, Carrie Forbes Gurganious of Willard and Amy Lynn Wooten of Cambridge, Mass.
John Turner Walston Jr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jason Bowman Walston and Matthew Timothy Finan of Goldsboro, Andrew Worth Hardison of Apex, Joseph Neil McDonald of Raleigh and James Hale Wilson of Charlotte.
Caroline Elizabeth Sar was flower girl. Robert Allen Sar Jr. was ringbearer.
Virginia Sutton and Vickie Myers directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Erin Katherine Ennis. Nancy Marie Harvin and Laura Fine Ledford distributed programs.
John Patrick Finan was Scripture reader.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dennis de Jong, trumpeter; Mark Gourley, organist; and Krista Cala and Paige Vickory Barwick, violinists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Goldsboro Country Club.
After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple reside in Durham.
Events held before the wedding included a party July 14 at the home of Marlee Ray hosted by Ms. Ray and family friends; a party June 24 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Barry Teasley hosted by friends; a shower June 23 at the home of Gail Laney, friend of the bride; a lingerie shower June 9 at the home of Chrystie Kesler hosted by the bridesmaids; a family party May 12 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wooten of Kinston, uncle and aunt of the groom; and a miscellaneous shower April 30 at the home of the bride hosted by the bride’s mother and Zanny Sar of Raleigh.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Goldsboro Country Club.
