Mrs. Roberson

Betsy Lee Overman of Goldsboro and Ryan Cain Roberson of Wilson exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Vernon Brown and the Rev. Andy Stovall officiating.

The bride is the daughter of David Harrell and Lorenda Overman of Goldsboro at the granddaughter of Becky Bevell, Gary and Pat Bevell and David and Minnie Overman of Goldsboro.

She is a 2009 cum laude graduate of Elon University teaching fellows program with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. She is employed at Princeton Middle School in the Johnston County School System.

The groom is the son of Steve and Lesli Roberson of Black Creek and the grandson of Eugene and Helen Cain of Black Creek and Thomas and Nancy Roberson of Durham.

He attends North Carolina State University for a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. He is employed at United Parcel Service in Raleigh.

After their wedding trip, the couple will reside in Clayton.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

The strapless bodice of the gown featured beadwork. A dropped waistline was accented with beaded trim. It had pleats on each side, as well as the back. Beadwork adorned the hemline, as well as the semi-cathedral train.

The bride carried a bouquet of red roses wrapped with ribbons and pearls.

Elizabeth Overman was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Kayce Brantham, Chelsea McManus, Jamie Mills, Kathryn Westfall, Meredith Whitt and Lora Wilkins, friends of the couple.

Brett Roberson was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Derek Roberson, brother of the groom; David Overman, brother of the bride; and Andrew Bass, Michah Gwartney, Greg VanEyk, Arie VanEyk and James Whitley and Jonathan Hill, friends of the couple.

Ushers were Gordon Rudell and Raymond Rudell, cousins of the bride.

Anna Kate Weeks, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Jaden Bevell, cousin of bride, was ringbearer.

Joseph Harden, cousin of the bride, was the chimer of the hour. Joshua Bevell and Ryan Bevell, cousins of the bride, were the ceremony candlelighters.

Dorothy Mills, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Catherine Pearson and Kelly Lawrence, friends of the couple.

A program of wedding music was provided by Alan Rudell, cousin of the bride, pianist; Denise Rudell, cousin of the bride, harpist; and Jamie and Jason Cox, friends of the couple, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner and dance reception at Goldsboro Country Club. Debbie Brantham and Patricia Herring, friends of the couple, cut the wedding cake. Borden and Elleze Weeks, great-uncle and aunt of the bride and Pam and Donnie McCarty, cousins of the groom, greeted guests. Michael and Joanne Williams, and Rudy and Donna Hill, friends of the couple, said good-byes.

Events held before the wedding included a kitchen and recipe shower June 6 at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Dale Bevell hosted by Laura Bevell and Heather Bevell, aunts of the bride, Becky Bevell and Pat Bevell, grandmothers of the bride; a his and hers housewares and entertainment shower Aug. 15 at Whitley Church hosted by the groom’s parents, Emmy Haveri and Kirsten Stovall; a dinner party Aug. 16 at Providence United Methodist Church hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cox; a bachelorette weekend in August in Atlantic Beach hosted by Beth Overman, sister of the bride; a church-wide bridal shower Oct. 11 at Providence United Methodist Church hosted by the Fellowship Sunday school class; a holiday shower Oct. 24 at Providence United Methodist Church hosted by Susan Overman Rudell and Lillian Overman Harden, aunts of the bride, and Minnie Overman, grandmother of the bride; a dinner at Logan’s Steakhouse Oct. 25 hosted by Joanne and Michael Williams and Louise and Douglas Williams; a dinner party Oct. 31 at the home of Eric and Crystal Weeks hosted by the Weekses and Borden and Elleze Weeks; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Nov. 21 at the Flying Bisquit in Cameron Village hosted by the bride’s mother Beth Overman, sister of the bride; a monogram shower Dec. 10 at the home of Jamie Mills hosted by Ms. Mills, Kayce Brantham and Dorothy Mills; and a bridal brunch at the home of Leah McCloud and Kelly Lawrence hosted by Ms. McCloud and Ms. Lawrence.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Goldsboro Country Club.
