Mrs. Joshua Light

Amanda Grace Liles and Joshua Clay Light exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 17 at 4:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Scott Thrailkill


The bride is the daughter of Christopher Brent and Geneva Renee’ Turner of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Gay Nell Turner and the late William Phillip Turner of Erwin, Joe and Sandra Dillehay of Franklinton and the late Herbert E. Alford of Wake Forest.

She is a 2008 graduate of East Carolina University with a master’s degree in elementary education. She is employed as a first-grade teacher.

The groom is the son of Artie Light and Robin Light of Eden and the grandson of Faye Light, the late Arthur Rudolph Light Sr., Ruth Underwood and the late Luther Dillard Underwood of Eden.

He is a 2006 graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in criminal justice. He is employed as a police officer in Burlington.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by both families.

She wore a white slim A-line strapless gown. The bodice was embellished in white pearls and crystal beading.

Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil embellished in white pearls and crystal beading.

The bride carried a bouquet of pink peonies.

Mary Elizabeth Lipsak was matron of honor, while Heather Liles, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Brooke Chalk and Mary Beth Stec, friends of the bride, and Stacey Light, sister of the groom.

Artie Light was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Anthony Mull, cousin of the groom; Gregory Light, uncle of the groom; and David Davenport, Justin Shaw and Brent Gilbert, friends of the groom.

Joy H. Burgess directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sasha Denham. Lindsey Coble distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Virginia Mohn, vocalist, and Carol Gray, organist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club.

After their wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Burlington.

The groom’s parents hosted a reception at Lane Tree Country Club.
