Brunswick Little Theatre, 8068 River Road in Southport, has announced the next installment of the teen “Shakespeare Rocks” workshop, on Wednesdays, Sept. 14-Nov. 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The class is open to all teens 13-19, regardless of experience. Cost is $90 for 10 weeks.
Shakespeare plays are meant to be performed and contain comedy, intrigue, romance, revenge, murder and even the supernatural. The class is taught in an action and experiential environment.
Instructor Rosina Whitfield has spent her career as a theatre director, educator and actor, most recently as the artistic director at the Drama Center in Greensboro for 16 years, where she instituted a program where teens and adults performed a Shakespeare play each season. She studied in London with The Royal Shakespeare Company and is currently the drama director at South Brunswick High School.
Her first Shakespeare Rocks class performed scenes from “Macbeth,” “As You Like It,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “Henry IV, Part 1.”
