Bertis E. Babson, 89 of Supply, died Monday, February 20, 2023 at his home. Mr. Babson was born in Ash, N.C. on December 28, 1933 and was the son of the late Wade Whit Babson and Stella Smith Babson. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Hazel Evans, Lida Coleman, Eudell Smith, Nelson Babson, Herman Babson, and Bobby Joe “Mose” Babson. He was a construction superintendent for many years with Mac Construction. Following his retirement, he enjoyed being on his own motor grader and maintaining the roads for neighboring communities and friends until he was 87 years old. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Edith Fulford Babson; daughter, Diana Babson Sawyer of Supply; granddaughter, Ashley Sawyer Hickman (Wes), of Leland; great-grand child, Will Hickman, Jr. of Leland; stepson, DeWayne Garner, of Kannapolis; sisters, Wilma “Jack” Cox of Ash and Donna Stone (Clay), of Reidsville, N.C.; brothers, Belton Babson of Columbia, S.C., James “Toby” Babson (Laurie) of Ash. Funeral Services were held February 23, at Sabbath Home Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Hewett and Rev. Foyd Bennett officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Joey Babson, Steve Brown, Douglas Anderson, Freddie Fulford, Al Cromer and Dean Hewett.
