Carrie Aleen Thorpe, 100, of Bolivia, N.C. passed January 17, 2023. She was born October 30, 1922, in Brunswick County, N.C. Daughter to the late George Franklin (Frank) Benton and Lou Allen Benton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Willian H. Thorpe, daughter Carrie Yvonne Sanderlin, and son-in-law James Victor Sanderlin, and granddaughter Dawn Blythe Sanderlin, brother Rufus Andrew Benton, and sisters Maud, Nora, Dora, and Daisey. She is survived by grandson Wayne Sanderlin, wife Kathy Sanderlin, son Garrett Sanderlin, and her granddaughter Chauntel Gibson. Aleen was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, where for many years sang in the choir. She was a talented lady an avid reader with an exceptional memory, who enjoyed canning, gardening and cooking. She loved her many nieces and nephews and they loved her. Her counsel will be missed as will she.
