Maureen Patricia Solano was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on March 15th, 1970. She was the first born of Walter G. Solano-Salas and Norma M. Solano-Marin, currently Montero, of Calabash, N.C. On April 15, 2023, surrounded by people who truly loved her the most in her life, she left this mortal world, no longer in pain. Maureen grew up in Costa Rica before her family migrated to Highpoint, N.C. for a short period of time before moving to Calabash. While attending West Brunswick High School, Maureen enjoyed playing the flute in the marching band, dancing to Spanish music, hanging with her friends, but most importantly spending time with her family. After graduating high school in 1988, she briefly went to east Carolina University, but realized she wasn’t ready to be so far from her family and after one year decided to come back home. One of her biggest accomplishments was raising her own family. In 1998 Maureen gave birth to her first child, Marina Leah Hill, and in 2007 she gave birth to her second daughter, Aleahna Maria Jimenez. Maureen dedicating her entire life showing her daughters the love she had for them could never be matched like any other soul on earth. She gave them the best life a mother could give her child not with materialistic items, but with the love within.

Maureen was passionate about all members of her family and was a lifelong believer in Christ. She was never afraid of branching into different cultures and languages. She was always eager to try new things and experiences, never losing her childlike wonder and curiosity. Her love for all was bright! She is survived by her father, Walter G. Solano, her mother, Norma M. Montero; brothers, Paulo C. Solano-Marin, Walter G. Solano-Marin, Jr., Gabriel Solano and half-brother, Rafael A. Solano-Ward; her beautiful daughters, Marina Leah Hill, and Aleahna Maria Jimenez. She was loved by so many and touched so many lives along her journey in life. She will be forever missed! Until we meet again. We miss you and love you big sis! Funeral service was held April 30th at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, Little River, S.C.
