Results of recent events submitted by area golf leagues.

Brunswick Plantation MGA

On Sept. 6, 7 and 13, the Brunswick Plantation Men’s Golf Association held its annual Ryder Cup tournament. Two teams (north and south), consisting of a total of 76 players, competed over three rounds, mirroring the Ryder Cup format. On Sept. 6, the format was two-man best ball. The South team won the day’s matches, 31-26. The second-round format was 2-man team alternate shot. The South team won again, 29-26. Day three of the event was individual match play. In the rain abbreviated round, the South team added an additional 5.5 points to win this year’s Ryder Cup, 93.5 to 80.

Calabash Three-Putts

Results for Sept. 6 at Sandpiper Bay. Winners in the Stableford contest were Ron Krusius (+6.5), Bernie Solich (+1.5) and Michael Liszkay (+1). Closest to the pin winners were Pat Eagan on Piper No. 3 (61 feet, 11 inches) and Mike Liszkay on Piper No. 6 (13 feet, 1 inch).

Carolina Bogie Busters

Results for Sept. 6 at Eagle Nest. Game was a flighted low gross, low net. A Flight low gross was Tim Phillips (78), Tom Huston (85) and Eric Mayo (86); low net was Tim Phillips (62), Eric Mayo (64) and Tom Huston (70). B Flight low gross was Sam Konrad (95), Bob Richter (97) and Tom Taylor (99); low net was Bob Richter (68), Sam Konrad (71) and Tom Taylor (73). Closet to the pin on No. 4 was Eric Mayo (6 feet, 1 inch). Low putts were Chris Kelly (28), Tim Phillips (31), Tom Huston (31), Dick Wilson (33), Eric Mayo (33) and Tom Taylor (34).

Carolina National WGA

Results for Aug. 30 at Carolina National. Members played stroke/medal play. In Flight 1, Ann Phlegar was low net and Phyllis Childers had second low net. Eileen Allen had low gross. In Flight 2, Maggie Holcomb and Chris Peacock tied for low net. RoseMarie Fassbender had low gross.

Results for Sept. 6 league play. Game was T’s and F’s. Players counted scores on holes beginning with the letters T and F. Flight 1: Eileen Allen, first place; Cynthia Amicone, second place. Flight 2: Judy Myers, first place; Phyllis Childers, second place. Flight 3: Chris Peacock, RoseMarie Fassbender and Chris Trickett all tied for first.

Carolina Shores MGA

Results for Carolina Shores MGA Labor Day league play on Sept. 2. Game was Red, White and Blue; one net on red flags, two nets and white flags and three nets on blue flags, Winning team was Mal MacRaild, Brett Neely, Jack Bendy and Joe Broderick (136). Second place was Bill Marsh, Jim Ratcliff and Joe Gallo (141). Two teams tied for third place: Joe Dalesandro, Bob Bosman, Kerry Jarrell and J Ivey (147) and Wayne Burchfield, Ken Swenson, Vince Hammerl and Lynn Harbold (147). Fifth place was Jim Bryce, Dick Boyle, Abe Glover and Mitch Mitchell. Closest to the pin on No. 3 was Mal MacRaild (7 feet, 7 inches) and Bill Marsh on No. 12 (22 feet, 3 inches).

CVGA

Results for Sept. 5 at Sea Trail on the Maples course: Format was individual Stableford. Top finishers were Jerry Kerns(+10), Chad Beairsto (+4-1/2) and Matt Beairsto (+2). Closest to the pin winners were Matt Beairsto on No. 3 (6 feet, 8 inches), Gene Gogolinski on No. 5 (34 feet), Don Arcuri on No. 11 (4 feet, 6 inches) and Denny Miller on No. 17 (14 feet). Low gross was Matt Beairsto (74) and most points over was Jerry Kerns (+10).

Ladies at Brick Landing

Results of the ladies odd/even competition at The Links at Brick Landing on Sept. 7 with 17 players participating. Chris Madden and Vicki Brower (72) tied with Lisa Weller and Mary Tacea (72) for first place. Third place was Lynn Westley and Karen Chester (76). Fourth place resulted in a four-way tie: Re Racer and Chris Madden (78), Carol Ellis and RJ McCord (78), Carol Ganelli and Jean Crumrine (78) and Nancy Kumlin and Sharon Brown (78). Lisa Weller carded a birdie on No. 2. Chip-ins were recorded by Re Racer on Nos. 10 and 12, Chris Madden on No. 5 and RJ McCord on No. 3. Lynne Berkowsky made a chip-in birdie on No. 11.

Meadowlands Ladies

Results for Aug. 5 at Meadowlands. Game was Red, White and Blue. Teams counted 3 best net scores for a blue flag, 2 best nets for a white flag and 1 best net for a red flag. Winning teams were Andee Calibeo, Bette Slowther, Liz Arcuri and Anne Hutcheson (148); Gail Fathergill, Patti Guinan, Karen Hertling and Missy Newton (150); Brigette Harrison, Cherryl Comas, Elana Cass and Sandy Ricker (151). Chip-ins were made by Patti Guinan on No. 1, Josie McGahn on No. 11, Bette Slowther on No. 13. Birdies were carded by Bridgette Harrison on No. 8; Billie Ellwanger on Nos. 4, 11 and 14; Andee Calibeo on Nos. 14 and 17; and Bette Slowther No. 4.

Ocean Ridge LGA

Results for Sept. 5 on Panther’s Run. Game was No Free Ride. Each team counts 2 low nets, but one score must be from a designated player. Winning team was Sharon Benson, Sharon Giblin, Sue Manfredi and Ann Turner (134). Low gross was Sharon Benson (88) and Sharon Giblin (88). Low net was Sharon Giblin (72). Gene Whidden made a chip-in on No. 16. Laura Wheaton had a birdie on No. 15 and Maureen Craik made a chip-in birdie on No. 2.

Results for Ocean Ridge ladies nine-hole league on Sept. 5 on Panther’s Run. Game was Putts Matter. Players score 5 points if drive lands in fairway or on green on par 3s; then subtract number of putts. Top finishing teams were Pam Bank, Kathy Sanchez, Sue Rephann-Smith (46); Lilia Kierez, Juli Miller, Peggy Wilson (40); Beth Grunewalder, Robin, Covelli, Barbara Augone (38). Ocean Ridge MGA

Results for Sept. 5 on Panther’s Run with 12 players participating in a four-man team event. Scoring was 1 gross and 1 net on par 3s, 1 gross and 2 nets on par 4s and 3 low nets on par 5s. Winning team was Steve McCreedy, Bob Major, Hugh Carano and John Balog (-12).

Piperettes

Results for Aug. 30 at Sandpiper Bay on the Sand/Piper course. Piperettes played a game of low gross and low net. Low gross was Noelle Kehrberg (90) and Diane Rauch (105). Low net was Laurie Maesano (77) and Lisa Foster (82). Chip-ins were made by Noelle Kehrberg on Sand No. 2 and Piper No. 7, Charlene Barno on Sand No. 1, Judy Destefon on Sand No. 5 and Ann Pollock on Sand No. 6.
