Wayne County will observe the Lent season with its 25th year of community Lent services March 6 through April 17.

The services are sponsored by Clergy Living in Faith and Fellowship and will be held each Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, at 1608 E. Pine St.

There will be a light lunch served after each service for eat-in or take-out.

An offering will be taken the services, which will go to United Church Ministries to help provide financial and other assistance to Wayne County residents.

This year’s Lent service schedule is:

• March 6, preacher will be the Rev. Dan Baer with St. Luke Church and liturgist will be the Rev. Mary Reese, retired Episcopal priest. Scripture will be Joel 2:1, 12-17.

• March 12, preacher will be the Rev. Penny Ziemer with First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and liturgist will be the Rev. Winford Galmon with Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Scripture will be 2 Corinthians 5:20b-6:10.

• March 20, preacher will be the Rev. Ronald Miller with St. James AME Church Zion and liturgist will be the Rev. Dustin Bannister with United Way of Wayne County. Scripture will be Romans 10:8b-13.

• March 27, preacher will be the Rev. Elizabeth Hounshell with Salem and Mount Carmel United Methodist churches and liturgist will be the Rev. Alex Parker with Daniel Memorial United Methodist Church. Scripture will be Philippians 3:17-4:1.

• April 3, preacher will be the Rev. Lisa Lawrenz with St. Paul United Methodist Church and liturgist will be the Rev. James Harry with St. Paul Church. Scripture will be 1 Corinthians10:1-13.

• April 10, preacher will be the Rev. Skip Walker with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and liturgist will be the Rev. Phyllis Vail with St. Paul Church. Scripture will be 2 Corinthians 5:16-21.

• April 17, preacher will be Archbishop Anthony Slater with Tehillah Church Ministries and liturgist will be the Rev. Bob Bardin with First Presbyterian Church. Scripture will be Philippians 2:5-11.
