The theme of this year’s achievement luncheon for the Wayne County Extension and Community Association was “Say yes to new ECA adventures.”

Speaker Michelle Estrada, family and consumer sciences agent, shared new ideas for leadership, community action and a calendar full of educational opportunities.

During the awards luncheon, Faye Bartlett with Stoney Creek Club was named County Leader of the Year. She was also one of three members recognized for strengthening their clubs by their contributions. The other two were Vicky Lassiter with Nahunta Club and Lillian Mincy with Wesley Mount Olive Club.

Judith Aycock with Nahunta Club received the Life Time Achievement Award.

The 2018 ECA Volunteer Service Award went to North George Club.

Nahunta Club received the 2018 Excellence in Education Award.

The 2018 Star Leadership Award was presented  to Town and Country Club.

Receiving the Bronze Award was Caminando Juntos and Stoney Creek clubs.

The Silver Award was presented to Nahunta and North George clubs.

Town and Country Club received the Gold Award.

The club with the most attendance at area meetings was North George Club. The club with the most attendance at county council meetings was Town and Country Club.

Mark Hood with the Wayne County Livestock Development Association and Eddie Pitzer with the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair recognized Caminando Juntos, North George and Town and Country clubs for their support during the 2018 county fair.

The Wayne County Livestock Association also donated $500 to support Wayne County ECA community service programs.

Last year, ECA members gave 9,259 hours of volunteer service, contributed $10,282 to charitable causes and reached 134,381 people with programs.

During the luncheon, five candles were lit to remember Evelyn Raper, former extension agent, and members, Hazel Best, Best Grove club, Catherine Braswell, North George Club, Myrna G. Tyndall, Stoney Creek Club, and Leslie Hobson, Town and Country Club.

Town and Country Club members made arrangements for the event. Members of Wesley Mount Olive Club prepared the meal.

Award sponsors were Barnes Jewelers and the Livestock Association.
